The Canine Styles "horse-blanket" coat is the ultimate cold weather protection. Made with water and snow-proof waxed cotton and with a warm faux-shearling lining. Fully adjustable straps that criss-cross around the body (forming an "X" underneath) and adjustable fastener-and-buckle neck openings let you customize the fit for your dog. The leash can attach to a sewn-in D-ring, allowing the coat to act as a safe and comfortable harness. (Harness use recommended only for small or well-trained dogs.) Matching collars and leads available. Machine wash in cold water, hang to dry.
Important:
- Straps must cross for the safety of the animal.
- This coat can be used as a harness for small dogs and dogs that do not pull.
- For sizes 20”–30”, this coat is not recommended for use as a harness.

- All domestic orders (excluding Hawaii & Alaska) are shipped via UPS and will arrive within 5 to 7 days.
- International orders and orders to Alaska and Hawaii are shipped via USPS (The United States Postal Service).

How do I find the right size for my dog?
Measure your dog's back length from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail. Choose the size closest to your dog's back length — if the measurement falls between two sizes, size up for a more comfortable fit. Horse blanket coats come in sizes from 10" to 30". Check the size chart on the product page for weight guidelines.

Yes, horse blanket coats have a 100% waterproof outer shell — waxed cotton on the plaid styles, nylon on the solid and reflective styles — with a warm faux shearling lining underneath. They're built to keep your dog warm and dry in rain, snow, and harsh winter weather.

The adjustable straps wrap around your dog's body and cross underneath, forming an "X" shape, then clasp at the chest. It's important that the straps cross rather than run straight across — this gives a better fit and keeps the straps from interfering with your dog's movement. You adjust the straps once when you first buy the coat, and they stay set for the life of the coat.

Horse blanket coats are machine washable. For waxed cotton plaid styles, machine wash in cold water and hang to dry. Nylon, quilted, and reflective styles are also machine washable. We suggest using a laundry bag when washing any of our horse blanket coats. Hang to dry for best results. After washing, make sure the straps are crisscrossed into an "X" shape before putting the coat back on your dog.

I have purchased 4 of these different color horse blanket coats for my Old English Sheepdogs. Am ordering # 5. These coats are the very, very best coats on the market. My dogs have worn these for more than 25 years. The coats do not wear out. I have handed the coats down from one OES dog to another. I would give the coat 100 * if they were available.

When I adopted my second dog, it was a no-brainer to order this horse blanket style coat - my older dog has two. They are great for even the fussiest pups. Highly recommended!
I bought the tartan horse blanket for my previous dog in 2005. It still looks wonderful on my new pup after all these years. Due to weather in the PNW I opted for the nylon one in black as well. Not only does it look good but it is practical and I attach his leash to the coat. ( My dog is good at walking on leash so no concerns about him without an additional harness or collar). I am always stopped and asked where I purchased both coats. Canine Styles has the best and most practical designs. He wears a size 14”
The horse blankets (I got two) are fantastic. I am a horse rider so I especially love them. They fit my little schnauzer prfectly and I love that they have the hook on top so you can just snap the leash in place.

The coat is sturdy, well-made, great to look at and warm. The adjustable straps make it easy to fit to my dog’s body. This is the second one I’ve bought, the first lasted years and is still in good condition. Worth the money.
The 3 dog warm and durable coats I purchased 20 years ago look new, except for one buckle was chewed off! I highly recommend the coats.
After our 3 dogs died we said no more dogs, but we have another dog who wears the large coats. Today she got the coat muddy, rinsed the mud off, ready to wear outside again. I highly recommend these coats, they are worth the price. When I cross the straps by my her tummy, she gets a tummy rub, she always stands still for those.

I tried them on on my 2 Jack Russels and they got very excited and jumped. However they are their Christmas presents for them. They'll have to wait til the 25th of December.
