Frequently Asked Questions

What size dog bed should I get for my dog?

Choose a nesting bed based on your dog’s weight. Canine Styles nesting beds range from 20” (up to 10 lbs, suited for Maltese or Yorkies) to 40” (up to 85 lbs, suited for Golden Retrievers). A 28” bed fits dogs up to 28 lbs, like Cocker Spaniels, while a 36” bed fits dogs up to 65 lbs, like Labrador Retrievers. Check the size chart on the product page for the full breakdown. If your dog likes to stretch out rather than curl up, consider sizing up.

Are the dimensions measured from the outside or inside of the bed?

All nesting bed dimensions are measured from the outside, which includes the bolster. For example, a 28” bed has about 19” of interior sleeping space. The bolster adds several inches on each side, so the inside sleeping area will be smaller than the listed size. Each product page includes a size chart showing both exterior and interior dimensions to help you choose the right fit.

What types of dog beds does Canine Styles offer?

Canine Styles offers nesting beds, crate mats, and blankets — all designed and made with premium materials. Our nesting beds come in cotton canvas and corduroy with a bolstered design for dogs who love to curl up. Crate mats are reversible with cotton on one side and sherpa on the other, and double as travel beds or car seat protectors. We also carry cashmere, chenille, corduroy, and fleece blankets in various sizes. For additional styles, including loungers, scoop beds, and canopy beds, browse our full bedding collection.

Are nesting beds good for anxious dogs?

Nesting beds can help anxious dogs feel more secure. The raised bolster sides create a den-like enclosure that many dogs find comforting, helping reduce restlessness and promote calmer sleep. Canine Styles nesting beds feature plush, cushioned bolsters that surround your dog on all sides — providing both physical comfort and a sense of safety. A nesting bed is one helpful tool, but if your dog’s anxiety is severe or persistent, consult your veterinarian.

How do I wash my dog’s bed?

Canine Styles nesting beds are designed for easy cleaning. Both the bottom cushion cover and the bolster cover are removable — each has a zippered opening — and both are machine washable. The inner pillow inserts are also machine washable and protected by water-resistant covers, so accidents won’t soak into the fill. Simply unzip, remove the covers, and machine wash. For crate mats, machine wash and dry on low heat.

What is the fill made of, and will it flatten over time?

Our nesting beds are filled with polyester pillow inserts for both the bottom cushion and the bolster. Both inserts are covered in water-resistant material, protecting the fill from moisture that can cause premature breakdown. The inserts are also machine-washable, which helps maintain cushioning with regular care. Polyester fill is widely used in high-quality pet bedding for its durability and ability to maintain its shape.

Do your beds have removable, machine-washable covers?

Yes. Every Canine Styles nesting bed has removable, machine-washable covers on both the bottom cushion and the bolster — each secured with a zipper for easy removal. This two-piece cover system means you can wash the entire bed surface, not just the base. The inner pillow inserts are also machine-washable and wrapped in water-resistant covers to protect the fill from accidents.

Are your beds orthopedic or good for senior dogs with joint issues?

Our nesting beds are not orthopedic memory-foam beds. They offer plush polyester fill and supportive bolsters designed for dogs who love to curl up and nest. For senior dogs with significant joint issues, a dedicated orthopedic bed may be a better choice. That said, many older dogs enjoy the security of a bolstered bed — the raised sides provide a cozy place to rest their head and feel enclosed.
